Big Problems?

Big Problems?

Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.
-Dr. Seuss

Over the last year I have become increasingly aware that I, along with a lot of other people, over complicate things. We can waste a lot of time and energy doing that…and worrying about stuff. Neither one of those activities create anything or get anything done…there is no power in them. I find that when I focus on the basics and cut through the clutter to focus on what really matters, I am more productive and just plain happier. I highly recommend it.

We deserve what we deserve…nothing more

Thanks to my good buddy Mark L. for sending this quote. The notion that many seem to have in this great nation…that they are somehow entitled to a nice comfy life just because they are here…has been on my mind a lot lately and Dr. Rogers nails it with this quote.

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931 – 2005

Wasatch Relay 2007

Just got this video compiled of the 187 mile Wasatch Back Relay I ran in 2007 with a bunch of “old” over-40 runners. Guess what? We took first.

Watching this and remembering the people I ran with and the time, effort and dedication it took for all of us to come together puts a smile on my face.

Remember, in business and in life, we all have things that we want to accomplish on our own but it helps to have the right team around you to really push you to the results you want.

“I believe that anyone can conquer fear by doing the things he fears to do, provided he keeps doing them until he gets a record of successful experiences behind him.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Well, Eleanor speaks the truth here. I encourage you to make fear a motivator and act in the face of your fears. You will then realize that you have strength where you used to feel weakness and you will feel more and more comfortable in every aspect of your life. You can do it.

“Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you can change your beliefs.” – Dr. Maxwell Maltz

I have found that the best way to change your belief is to do something, to take action, to get out there, get in the game or whatever you want to call it. You will find that when you act things will happen. Prepare yourself by studying and learning about your business but don’t trick yourself into thinking that you are not ready to talk to people. Leverage your upline leadership and get into action. The results could amaze you.

Small Daily Differences

“We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.” – Marian Wright Edelman

This quote sums up our business perfectly. It is our consistent effort over time and not the “big fish” signup that guarantees our success. Commit to your daily actions that will grow your business, remember, the business grows when new people are introduced to the product. Then, stick with it over time … no matter what.

First Make Him Your Friend

First Make Him Your Friend

“If you wish to win a man over to your ideas, first make him your friend.” – Abraham Lincoln

This quote teaches us a great lesson about building a successful networking business. It is common in human nature for us to resist when others try to tell us what we will think, feel or do. We resist when we feel pressured or manipulated. So, my advice for you today is to just be patient.

Bob Schmidt always said, “People are open to others who take a genuine and sincere interest in them.” Of course they do, it is how we are wired. We like to be cared about. Your business will begin to take off like you have never seen before when you decide to make the person and not the sale your focus. Learn how to be sincerely interested in those you meet and those with whom you interact. They will feel it and be much more likely to listen to your “ideas” about an opportunity.

Put it to the test and see for yourself.

Relationships Are the Key to Success

Relationships Are the Key to Success

“The degree to which I can create relationships which facilitate the growth of others as separate persons is a measure of the growth I have achieved in myself.” – Carl Rogers

This is our business … to create and nurture relationships. In this day and age of commercialism and selfishness we separate ourselves from the clutter when we truly care about others. Take the time to listen, understand and empathize with those you know and those you meet and watch opportunities unfold before you. Your business will grow as a by-product of this genuine concern for those around you.
